We should all do what, in the long run, gives us joy,
even if it is only picking grapes or sorting the laundry.

~ E.B. White

.

I suppose I agree with that statement for the most part. I think we’re created to use our gifts, and when we are using them, that’s when the joy comes. For some that may mean using special unique talents, like playing the violin or sculpting a treasured statue. For others it may be using physical strength to help others with yard work, move furniture into a new home, or yes, maybe even picking grapes.

That doesn’t always mean, that for me to have joy, I should be spending every bit of my time making pictures, singing, cooking my favorite dishes, or doing whatever tickles my fancy. Some days my purpose is laundry. And that’s okay.

As much as I complain about the laundry, I need to understand that, even in the middle of a mountain of dirty duds, I can still have joy. It’s about my choice of attitude.

The gift of laundress? Why not. It’s necessary, just as necessary as any of the gifts doctors, teachers, lawyers, policemen, or pilots use. Besides, who’d want to hang around a doctor with stinky clothes anyway? And who says I can’t sing and do the laundry at the same time?

Or dance?

The dancing, singing, laundress.

I may be on to something.

Wishing you joyful grape picking y’all!

:-D

Yep. This one was a tad bit difficult. Sorry about that, but I did come back and give a hint. Next one won’t be so challenging. Maybe.

So what it is? Let’s see…

Hmmm…

Did ya get it?

Got it yet?

It’s a…

It’s a…

It’s a geeeeetar! Actually it’s a guitar bridge pin, a teeny, but integral part of a guitar. The guitar couldn’t make lovely music without that itty bitty, little piece.

Now you know. And hopefully for the rest of your life you’ll know, and if anyone ever shows you an enlarged picture of a guitar bridge pin, you’ll be the first to recognize it.

She Wears Many Hats is all about educating people. Big stuff to learn around here. Big stuff.

………………………………

And who’s the winner of the $75 for shopping at CSNstores.com? That would be…

Eric B. who said… “String peg from a guitar.”

Congratulations Eric!!! I’ll be contacting you about your prize.

Thanks everyone for playing this round of “What it is?” This is one of my favorite parts of She Wears Many Hats. It’s great fun! Hope you’ll play next time.

I’m so glad you’re here, because guess what? It’s another round of What it is?, the family friendly game that’s pure mind boggling fun. Okay, maybe it’s not mind boggling. Maybe some of you guess it right off the bat. Others of us have to put more thought behind our guess. But it’s still fun. For those of you new to What it is?, I show a part of an object, you guess, and one winner is chosen from correct guesses. Easy breezy.

And the prize? CSN Stores is sponsoring this round of What it is? by offering a $75 gift code for use in any one of there online stores. Perhaps you’re in the market for dutch ovens? Maybe Aunt Myrtle would like one for her birthday, Billy wants a bike, or you’re in the market for a fancy laptop case? If you win, you’ve got $75 for any number of things at the online CSN Stores.

So, here we go. I’m gonna show a portion of an object, and you take a guess as to what it is. Only one guess per person please. And like always, all guesses will be hidden until the end of the contest.

But wait, I need to tell ya, this object isn’t quite as generic as the objects in other rounds of What it is? have been. Just keep that in mind. I’m sure you’ve seen one before, but you may not have one to play around with.

Are you ready?

Are you sure?

Here it is…

****************************************

Okay, okay…yep this one is difficult. And I’m a pushover, so I’m giving a hint. AND adding another day to the deadline. Here’s the deal, if you’ve already guessed, you get to guess again. If you’ve already guessed, and you think you guessed correctly, you get to guess again and it will count as another entry. Here’s the hint…

I don’t want to string you along, that wouldn’t be nice, but these guys (or gals) wouldn’t have a problem guessing the object…

Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton.

Nope, they’d guess it right away I’m sure.

There’s your hint. That was it. Too easy now. Take a guess.

****************************************

The rules again, one guess per person, one winner will be chosen from all correct guesses to win a $75 gift code for online shopping at CSN Stores. And remember, all comments will be hidden until the winner is chosen.

***Entries will be accepted until Monday, August 30, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 midnight PST. The winner will be announced some time during the day on Tuesday, August 31 Wednesday, September 1, 2010.***

Have a fantabulous day! And happy guessing!

(CSN Stores has supplied the prize, a $75 gift code for use in any of their online stores, for this contest but have not compensated me in any other way for this post.)
